Does it make me look bad if I accept a job, start the new job, and then accept a better offer within 2 weeks?
I think it is unprofessional to start a job only to leave after two weeks….this is why. First, you are made an offer, you are supposed to carefully review your options and decide if this is a good offer with a solid company. If the answer is yes, you follow through with that commitment. IF on the other hand, you feel that the offer is a low offer and you could get more money, better working conditions, a better commute, you turn the offer down and you continue to look and seek out a better opportunity for you. Examine what constitutes a better offer…is it more money? How much more? Is it a closer commute? How much closer? Don’t just jump ship without closely examining why you feel the other offer is better. More money doesn’t always equate to a better job. It could be more money but your new boss is demeaning or they have stricter policies around time off or they don’t provide flex time. Really think before leaving what is it that makes it better.
Hope this helps!
