Is it bad to quit your job before finding a new one?

Ideally, you should wait till you find another job before quitting your job. Reasons, if out of work you are not as desirable to the company you are applying to because the belief is if you are out of work, you will take a salary that is reasonable vs. optimal AND you are out of work you may tend to take a position that is not the best fit for you i.e. too far away etc. because you need the money. So, if you must quit your job because it is that intolerable, make sure you have enough money to sustain the search (approx. 3 months) so you are not desperate to take anything.
