Is it okay to quit my job by never contacting them again?
The fact that you are asking this question vs. just doing it shows me that you know it is not the right thing to do. There are do’s and don’ts that we as society “should” live by, such as opening a door for a woman, not stealing your neighbors’ newspaper, not cutting in line and not walking off the job and never going back. With that said, there are unmitigated circumstances that would allow for that…such as sexual harassment and or feeling your life is in danger. Then by all means leave and do not look back. IF you are no longer happy at your job and feel uncomfortable giving notice in person, you can always write a letter of resignation and leave on your supervisor’s desk or email to them. Keep the letter as basic as possible not blaming anyone, just that it is time for you to move on to a position that offers more growth potential. If you really feel it is best to leave after giving them that letter, fine, but at least you told them you are not coming back. I have to say providing a two-week notice is the professional thing to do, if at all possible.
I hope that helps!
Good luck!
