The hiring manager for a specific job text me saying “ you’ll have a position as long as the company I am negotiating with accepts my bid and sign the contract “ what does that mean and what would be the bid
It means the job you applied for is dependent on that company obtaining the contract. If that company accepts their bid and signs off on it, you get the job, if they do not get the contract, you do not get the job. It’s not unusual for consulting companies to get people lined up for positions so that when the contract is signed they can get started right away. A bid is a dollar amount that the company can do the job/contract for…many companies can bid on jobs and typically the lowest bid gets the contract. You are not privy in most cases to what other companies are bidding so you just hope for the best once you bid.
Hope that helps!
